India was a poetry student at the Workshop in the 80’s when it was still a “young” program. She was ahead of her time, with poetic sensibilities that were already well-tuned and a strong identity as a poet wordsmith. She loved language; she walked and talked and emanated its mysteries and intricacies. India eventually returned to join the Workshop’s residential staff in YEAR. Always a generous person, it was another way in which she “gave back” to an experience which she had been herself so affected by.
